We started looking for a way to speed up the process of set out a couple of years ago and reviewed numerous other products which were available. At the time we were reviewing other systems and our concern was cumbersome and difficult set up. We are not surveyors and needed a system which made it possible to set up, set out and record our works!. We wanted a system which was simple to understand, simple to operate and came with loads of support videos on basic function use.
Our investment in the iCON technology has seen a far more accurate and fast layout process in all aspects of plumbing and drainage. It reduced rework and also provided our clients with the confidence that we got it right the first time.
Being able to set out or stake out pits, pipes and deck penetrations without having to wait for offset pegs or gridlines to be installed, allows Ashmor to get on with the job without delay. The As built feature allows drawings to be updated consistently and reduces clashing of services on site and makes the drawings at the end of a job accurate.
Ashmor had all but made a decision to use an alternative brand but then our management team met with the CR Kennedy Leica team of Bernie and Daniel in Sydney.
Daniel was demonstrating the product and within 10 minutes the Ashmor team were staking out points using the iCON Build field software.
The software layout and intuitive nature on the tablet made the robotic total station a breeze for even the most novice of operators.
The training and support that CR Kennedy offered was fantastic and the accessibility to YouTube videos made Ashmor change to a LEICA ICR70 package in the space of a 30min period.

After some excellent recent service and support received from your company, I wanted to write this letter to you. CR Kennedy not only sell the best quality Leica surveying equipment, but actually back that up with meaningful support and customer service. In my own, and my company's, dealings with CR Kennedy's support staff, we have received nothing but prompt, accurate and knowledgeable advice on how to do what we do - measure things accurately the first time without needing to go back to site again.
In particular, Dr Jane Cooke has been tremendous in her support, advice and training for me in learning how best to use Leica GPS Systems. Her patience in explaining quite lengthy procedures required for data reduction and analysis was repeatedly demonstrated. She is generous with both her time and her training resources, is readily contactable when I have questions (usually somewhere in a paddock a long way away from the office and a computer), and does not talk down to me in spite of my lack of knowledge in day-to-day GPS operations. She recently salvaged an entire day's worth of data for my company from a corrupted data card, within 10 minutes of asking, and without any hassles at all. Jane is a rare person who combines absolute technical mastery with a willingness to share her knowledge and provide meaningful service to customers.
We all have an idea of what bad customer service is like, as we complain knowingly to friends about the low levels of support we receive from some commercial products in our lives. CR Kennedy Australia, in particular Jane Cooke, is the opposite of this! Contactable, knowledgeable, with a total absence of any 'attitude', Jane and all the other support staff at CR Kennedy are wonderful people to have on your side. It would also be great to acknowledge the help I've received in the past from Chris Emmerick in NSW (one of the very best support staff I have received help from), Nathan Thompson, and also Matt Adlam (who still helps with my enquiries despite being in sales).

Kempsey Shire Council recently purchased a Robotic Total Station from CR Kennedy. A little over 12 months ago, Telstra began looking for a machine control system to provide guidance and data recording for our rural optical fibre cable laying machinery (rip and plough bulldozers). I run an owner-operated excavator hire business on the Sunshine Coast, QLD Australia. In 2013 I contacted C.R Kennedy our local Leica agent to enquire about a 2D power digger system for my 8 tonne excavator. We received the long awaited MS50 yesterday. Rob gave us an excellent introduction, thank you very much. We are already getting productive with it and scanned some pipework on a vessel this morning. What is good about it is that it behaves like a conventional theodolite, resecting of our standard control points without going through the process of setting up scan targets to fix the point cloud, with the added bonus of on board data processing. A general comment I've picked up a few times from the boys is that the gear just feels more solid compared to what we have been using. We’ll try and give you as much feedback as possible, as our construction sites are very full on, what happens in a normal small survey company in a year takes place here in a week. Our field staff are loving the new gear and the only issue which we face now is who gets the TS15 and who gets the old gear when we hit the field. About 3 years ago we invested in machine guidance for one of our excavators.
